About the Farm
This historic 15-acre property is conveniently located just minutes off Route 66. Home to over 15,000 sunflowers, the Sweet Virginia Foundation’s honeybee sanctuary, and shoreline on Lake Manassas, our farm makes for an eclectic backdrop for gatherings and events.
The grounds feature several outdoor lawns and terraces, perfect for large gatherings and our barn for intimate indoor gatherings.
Our guests enjoy a truly unique venue steeped in history and tradition while supporting the future of environmental education.
History
The farm was originally built around 1860, at the beginning of the civil war, as a two-room cabin. It was home to a working-class family
During the civil war, when soldiers would pass through the area, the family would hide their chickens in the cabin walls so they wouldn’t get stolen. While silly, this allowed the family to continue their farming life.
Over the next 100 years, the cabin was expanded, and the barn was added. During the first major modern renovations in the 1950s, the owner found a civil war era saber while repairing the porch, and to fund the farm; the saber was sold for only $25.
The most recent renovations were completed in 2005. Many of the original features and design details from the 1800s were emulated in the renovations, as materials were chosen to replicate what would have been true of the time period.
Sweet Virginia Foundation
Clover Hill Farm is home to Sweet Virginia Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that creates a happier, healthier planet—one bee and one student at a time.
The organization inspires kids to engage with the natural world, appreciate the Earth’s symphony of life, and grow into stewards of the environment through interactive classroom programs, lesson plans, and farm visits.
100% of the proceeds from all events at the farm go toward Sweet Virginia’s efforts.
